If you or a family member recently experienced a serious accident or illness, you may be travelling down a road you never thought you'd travel. A road where everyday activies -- things like tying a shoe, getting into a car, even having a converstaion -- have become enormous challenges. But, it's far from hopeless. With hard work, determination and proper rehabilitation care, you can reclaim your life...one step at a time.
Judy Siegle, a social worker at MeritCare Rehabilitation Services, knows a challenge. In 1979, she suffered a broken neck, the result of a car accident involving a drunk driver. The challenge of rehabilitation followed, with long years of therapy and treatment. Tempting as it may have been, she never gave up. And though she knew she would not regain use of her legs, she never set limits for herself.

At MeritCare Rehabilitation Services, our focus is on helping patients successfully return to the community. That return depends, in part, on a smooth transition from hospital to home, including the availability of outpatient services.
Since 1991, the inpatient MeritCare Rehabilitation service has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities(CARF) More recently, our brain injury program received CARF accreditation as well. CARF accreditation serves to assure that MeritCare provides a competent, quality rehabilitation program. It is the highest recognition of quality a facility can earn.
