Go 100 for Health - Monday Fargo Fitness Fun Nights

Join us on Monday evenings for Fitness Fun Night. Each Monday we’ll meet at MeritCare Southpointe and go on a 3-mile walk, introduce some new exercises and give you the opportunity to talk to the experts on exercise and nutrition. We’ll hold prize drawings, give tours of the Lifelong Fitness gym and offer free 7 day passes to all those that attend. Passes are good for all services in the gym plus the group exercise classes. This class will cover early parenting skills, safety, bathing, diapering, adapting to change—all things you will need to know to care for your newborn. This class is intended for first time parents. Classes are four times a month, usually an evening class from 7-9 p.m. and occasionally a Saturday afternoon from 12:30- 2:30 p.m. Classes are subject to availability. (Read More)

During this class we will discuss the basic nutritional guidelines for having a healthy heart. Each class is lead by a clinical dietitian and is customized to the needs and questions of the present group. Some topics may include, but not limited to, how to incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet, different types of fats, low sodium cooking, label reading, and important supplements you need to be taking. This is a free one hour class open to all in the community. Whether you have heart disease, know someone with heart disease, or just want to learn more about heart healthy eating this class is for you. MeritCare is now offering a two-hour educational class for parents expecting a baby. This class will cover questions from the hospital to delivery. We will focus on labor and what you can expect. Classes are held twice a month with one evening class from 6-9 p.m. and a Saturday class from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. New parents delivering at MeritCare may attend at no charge. Lamaze classes are much more than breathing! Topics include positioning and massage techniques, comfort measures, relaxation skills, and labor support. Classes focus on practice and discussion, giving clients information so they can make informed choices. Class sizes are limited and we encourage registering for classes by the 6th month. Our Family is Having a Baby!

This 1 1/2 hour class is designed for "brothers and sisters to be," ages 3 to 7 years to aid in adjusting to the addition of a new baby in the family. The class includes: characteristics and actions of a newborn, feeding the new baby, care of a newborn using demonstrations, doll play and a tour of the Family Birth Center. Car Seat Safety Checks

Statistically four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly. The third Thursday of each month Safe Kids Fargo/Moorhead conduct Car Seat Check Up Events at F-M Ambulance (2215 18th St. S.) from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Trained technicians will be available to assist parents and caregivers with using their car seats correctly.
