A Team Approach

From initial consultation to surgery to post-surgery support, many people will be involved in your care. All share a common goal: your success.

Led by our experienced surgeons, the MeritCare Bariatric Team includes specially-trained nurses and staff.

But surgery is only part of the equation. MeritCare's Bariatric Surgery Program also includes:

Know, too, that MeritCare's Bariatric Surgery Program is part of MeritCare Health System — the region's premier health system with more than 400 doctors practicing in more than 73 specialties. Whatever health need might arise in your particular situation, we can help.

Using the latest knowledge

In addition to surgical expertise and a team approach, MeritCare's Bariatric Surgery Program emphasizes clinical research. Through MeritCare's relationship with the Neuropsychiatric Research Institute, our program is one of only six clinical centers in the United States selected by the National Institutes of Health to participate in a bariatric research study known as LABS — short for Longitudinal Assessment of Bariatric Surgery.

This study brings together experts in bariatric surgery, obesity research, internal medicine and other related fields to analyze the risks and benefits of bariatric surgery and its impact on patients' health and quality of life and to identify which patients would most likely benefit from bariatric surgery.

If you are interested in participating in this study, please let us know.
