Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training in the Workplace
MeritCare offers a training session that focuses on Reasonable Suspicion Testing - Training for Supervisors. This program provides excellent information on alcohol and substance abuse detection in the workplace. The information is valuable to supervisors in any organization and is required for managers of employees whose companies must adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) required education regulations as noted in CFR 382.603. Participants will learn the physical, behavioral, speech and performance indicators of substance abuse, as well as understand regulations, how to initiate testing, complete required documentation, and helps give them confidence about their responsibility as a supervisor.
This program can be customized to fit the needs of your company and can be presented to managers and/or employees. Training sessions are scheduled each spring and fall in Fargo and in surrounding communities, and are open to anyone who wants to learn more about alcohol misuse and drug use in the workplace.
MeritCare Workplace Drug Analysis Services Program Coordinator, Vicki Hanson, leads the training. Vicki works closely with medical review officers assisting companies with drug and alcohol testing programs. She is a regional DATIA certified professional collector trainer, a certified designated employer representative (CC DER) and also teaches breath alcohol technicians the appropriate procedures to ensure quality.
