Millions of Americans are at risk for developing chronic kidney disease and more than 100,000 patients are diagnosed with kidney failure every year. While there is no cure for chronic kidney disease, there are effective treatment options. MeritCare Kidney Services (Nephrology) provides support to patients with kidney disease and failure. Our nephrologists monitor patients' overall well-being since the kidneys are crucial to a person's overall health.

CARE

MeritCare Kidney Services offers a variety of specialty related services. Some of these include the assessment and management of:

  • Kidney stones
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Fluid and electrolyte abnormalities
  • Acute kidney failure
  • Chronic kidney failure
  • Immunosuppression drug management post transplant
  • Glomerulonephritis

The vision of MeritCare Kidney Services is: "To be recognized as the provider of choice for high quality nephrology and transplant related care. We will deliver a geographically accessible, comprehensive, and compassionate service to those patients and communities we serve."

Diagnosis and Treatment

The doctors, physician assistants, nurses, dietitians, social workers, technicians and other staff members at MeritCare Kidney Services are here for you and your family. We will help educate you about kidney failure, diagnostic testing, warning signs and treatment.

Programs

The MeritCare Transplant Program combines compassionate medical care with the latest in surgery and technology.

MeritCare Dialysis offers several types of dialysis services for our patients.

Recognition

MeritCare Transplant Services was featured at the national Transplant Growth and Management Collaborative meeting as an organization who offers best practices for transplantation. Representatives from MeritCare, as well as Mayo Clinic, were highlighted in a video encouraging interactions between transplant organizations.
