Every sport requires certain skills. As you master them, you perform better. MeritCare's Speed Strength Program offers the four components you need to achieve results:
Acceleration/Maximum Speed
Your ability to obtain maximum speed optimally can give you an edge. Our customized speed training progressions will meet the specific demands of your sport. Plyometric Exercises
Explosive power and reactive ability are key skills in most sports. Plyometric exercises (jumping and throwing actions) develop nerves and muscles to help build and improve these skills. We will base your prescription for plyometric exercises on your current ability, level of development and sport.
Olympic/Conventional Strength Training
Power is one of the greatest assets you as an athlete can possess. Olympic-style weight training is recognized nationally as a proven tool to enhance power. Our staff has instructed many athletes on the explosive potential of Olympic-style and conventional strength training. In fact, we are the only program in the region to offer this innovative training technique.
Quickness/Agility Training
Stopping, starting, changing directions and moving side to side are critical skills for improving your athletic performance—and all require quickness and agility. Our series of sport-specific drills will improve your agility and quickness, setting the stage for overall enhanced performance.
