Dr. Gilbertson is a graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn. and the University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis. He served his residency at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and the VA Hospital in Minneapolis. Dr. Gilbertson is board certified in radiology. This means that he has fulfiled the necessary criteria established by the regulating board and has passed the examination that accredit him in this field.
Prior to his 16 years as CEO, Dr. Gilbertson was a neuroradiologist for 30 years – he owned a medical imaging company in Fargo and was affiliated with The Neuropsychiatric Institute and Fargo Clinic.
Dr. Gilbertson serves on the boards of the Neuropsychiatric Research Institute, the American Hospital Regional Policy Board, VHA Upper Midwest Board, and the North Dakota Hospital Association Board of Directors. He currently chairs the Renaissance Zone Authority, and serves on the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation Board.
