Manipulative Toys

Lego's

  1. You may need to use Duplo's if the child has difficulty placing small pieces together.
  2. Provide a set with a variety of shapes and colors.
  3. Lego's provide a chance for the child to initiate, organize and make choices.
  4. Some sets include directions that can be followed to create a specific design, giving the child an opportunity to follow directions. Instruct the child to create a piece similar to the one you have made.
  5. Encourage the child to categorize blocks according to shape and color.
