Recovery and Outcome from Acquired Brain Injury
HOW TO WORK WITH THE BRAIN-INJURED CHILD AT DIFFERENT COGNITIVE LEVELS
Level IX — Purposeful/Appropriate(Standby Assistance on Request)
The child independently shifts back and forth between tasks and completes them accurately for at least two consecutive hours. She is aware of and acknowledges her impairments when they interfere with task completion and takes appropriate corrective action. Still, she requires standby assistance to anticipate a problem before it occurs and take action to avoid it. Depression may continue, and the child may be easily irritable, with a low frustration tolerance.
