The Transport Team
It is the transport team that truly makes MeritCare LifeFlight a flying intensive care unit. Each member is trained in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Specific team members are selected to best meet the needs of the patients being transported. The transport team consists of a critical care registered nurse and a paramedic.
A specialized neonatal team utilizes two neonatal intensive care nurses and a respiratory care therapist. The obstetric team incorporates an OB nurse specialist and either the neonatal team or an adult team member, depending on the imminence of delivery.
Our pilots are on-call and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Pilots of both aircraft are highly experienced professionals who have passed all testing requirements and are fully licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration.
