Additional Considerations
Other accommodations or modifications may be needed to make the student's environment and classroom culture more cognitively, behaviorally and physically "friendly." For example, consider the following:
- Home and classroom modifications may be needed to enhance communication, address behavior and improve independent movement and the ability to attend, think, hear and see.
- Therapies (occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language therapy) should be integrated into the educational program as needed, with scheduled time for breaks, rest periods, medications, etc.
- Planned transitions to less restrictive environments should be scheduled into the IEP to enhance inclusion, integration and independence.
