High Risk for Complications


High risk for complications include:

  • Heavy aortic calcification
  • Elderly
  • Carotid artery stenosis
  • Prior Stroke
  • Kidney or lung disease

While it is believed that generally most people are good candidates for off-pump surgery. Not all patients qualify. A few heart bypass surgery patients are not good candidates depending on the condition of their heart and the arteries. The selection is made by the physician after close and thorough examination.
