61for61 Stories
Every year the annual 61for61 celebration is enriched by your stories – memories of loved ones who have lost the battle with cancer and the stories honoring those who have survived cancer. Over the years we've heard thousands of stories in our radio interviews and on the Home Run/Walk course. This year, we're pleased to offer again the Honor Memorial Wall, a place where you can tell your story. We welcome you to read the stories below.
James Cresap
Posted by: Julie CresapMy husband received care from the Roger Maris Cancer Center for the past three years. He was treated wonderfully by doctors, nurses, and staff. Unfortunately, my husband passed on September 4, 2009. My family felt it important to give to this wonderful facility, so that in can continue to help others as it helped us. Thank you Roger Maris.
Dr. David Curfman
Posted by: Maren JorgensenMy uncle was an incredible man with such a sense of compassion and love. This was apparent with every patient he helped and every person who was lucky enough to met him. He made such an impact on my life and influenced alot of what I did and what I was planning to do. He is thought of often and will never be out of my heart.

Posted by: Dawn and Scott JarvisUnfortunately, we've lost several loved ones to different types of cancer. We also have a few survivors amongst us. This donation goes out to those we have lost and those who are still here with us. We love you all!
Keith Cihak
Posted by: Damian CihakMy brother lost his battle with Cancer on 09/05/2009.
Keith was a gentleman first, never complaining during his battle with cancer. He was son, brother, uncle, friend, and will be missed.
Heaven will be a better place with him.
God Speed to you. Your loving family.
Miss me, but let me go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free
Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me - but let me go
For this is a journey that we must all take
And each must go alone
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home
When you are lonely, and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me - but let me go
Nicole Morlock and Shane Schumacher
Posted by: Nicole M.Me (Nicole) and Shane work for the same company. Within three months of each other, we found out that we both had cancer. I found out November 5th, 2008 that I have Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and Shane found out February 1st, 2009 that he had Leukemia. Shane is now 100% in remission and I find out in three days if I am in remission or not. It has been a hard time for both of us during this struggle, but we are both strong fighters and are determined to be SURVIVORS for a long time!!!!
