Pam Solseng - Honorary Chairperson

2007 Honorary Chair
Pamela Solseng, Fargo, N.D.

Pamela Solseng of Fargo, N.D. was diagnosed and hospitalized with ovarian cancer on her college graduation day in May 2006. She had just completed her nursing degree, only to find herself as a patient instead. MeritCare Roger Maris Cancer Center has partnered with Pam every step of the way, meeting both her medical and emotional needs.

She especially appreciates the compassion of staff and volunteers. "It's invaluable to me to receive care at a place where doctors and staff are so positive," Pam says. "Everyone knows me by name, and they're all in one place to meet my needs." Since her initial diagnosis, Pam has made many life changes. She has become more proactive, researching possible treatments online. She also takes time to meditate and pray daily and to make memories with her family. She says, "I'm not waiting for my life to start." In addition to increasing awareness of ovarian cancer, Pam wants to share the most important thing she's learned during her own battle. "Cancer is not the death sentence it once was," she says. "Today, there's hope."
