Cares for Kids Stories
Every year, the Clear Channel Kares for Kids Radiothon is enriched by your stories about loved ones who have battled health conditions at the MeritCare Children's Hospital. Over the years we've heard thousands of stories in our radio interviews. This year, we're pleased to offer our online billboard, a place where you can tell your story. We welcome you to read the stories below.
Roric Hage
Posted by: Sara and DarrenWe had a baby just a little over a year ago and we were so excited for our first baby. We had a few minor complications along the way but everything is wonderful now. I just want to contribute to those that were less fortunate then we were. I know we are so lucky and are so happy. Children really are a miracle.

Posted by: AmberOur son was born on Jan. 4th with T.E. Fistula. We received excellent care from Meritcare staff before he was airlifted to Minneapolis. The knowledge, quality of care, and compassion showed by the doctors, nurse staff, NICU team, and transport team was outstanding. Thank you!!
Grace & Jack Entzion
Posted by: Melissa EntzionRecently Grace (8) was in the Children's Hospital for 9 days for a ruptured appendix that had caused an infection in her body. She had two surgeries, a collapsed lung, and many other small procedures before going home. The recovery has been long but we are blessed. It is hard to even put into words how we feel about everyone at the Children's Hospital. What they do every day is quite simply amazing and has inspired us in so many ways. Grace's twin Jack was also in the Children's Hospital in July 2001 when he was 8 weeks old for respitory problems. He stayed for 5 days and is fine today. I can still remember the nurses and doctors vividly from almost 9 years ago. I wonder if any of the nurses, doctors and staff know how much they impact a family in so many ways? So now, we have 2 stories, medically different but the exact same as far as the care we received. They have saved the lives of 2 of our 3 kids, what else can we say?
Heather Stene
Posted by: Heather SteneWhen I was born I weighed 2 lbs. 12 oz. I was born 9 weeks early. It still amazes me to this day how much the NICU helped save my life and how much it has changed in 21 years. It is great to know that there is such a great children's hospital in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
Mckenzie Jo Remboldt
Posted by: Amy RemboldtWe struggled with infertility for 6 years. Made the decision to undergo In Vitro Fertilization. We got pregnant with twins! We were ecstatic! Finally, our dream came true! We miscarried one of the twins at 6wks 4 days, but little Mckenzie held on. What a fighter! My water then broke 6 weeks early, and she was born on 10/05/09 at 3lbs 4oz. She immediately went into the NICU at Meritcare Hospital, Fargo. I thank the staff, nurses and doctors at Meritcare Hospital, both in the OB department and NICU for the exeptional care given to myself and our daughter. She went home after only 16 days in the NICU, weighing 3lbs 12oz! We truly are blessed to have her in our life! She is our miracle baby! Thank you Dr. Wessman, Dr. Shash, Dr. Lina and all of the wonderful nurses!! Mckenzie is now a thriving 4 month old!
