MeritCare Children's Hospital
Children are not just little adults. When they're sick or injured they need
special facilities, special equipment for small bodies, and special people who
understand their needs and fears. That's the reason for the
MeritCare Children's Hospital.
Located within the MeritCare Hospital, the Children's
Hospital includes a 26-bed pediatric unit, a 24-bed neo-natal intensive care
nursery and an 8-bed pediatric intensive care unit.
Its 200 staff members are dedicated to the care of children,
including doctors of pediatric surgery, oncology, neonatology, cardiology,
critical care, neurology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, endocrinology,
pulmonology, immunology, general pediatrics and more.
The Difference ...
When seconds count, the Children's Hospital has what it
takes to provide expert emergency care including: MeritCare LifeFlight (an air
ambulance program); the North Dakota Poison Control Center and the Kiwanis
Pediatric Trauma Center, located in the MeritCare Emergency Center. Our special programs allow us to treat
complex conditions such as down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, brain injury,
hemophilia and cerebral palsy.
MeritCare Children's
Hospital is the only children's hospital between Minneapolis and Seattle to be
designated at the highest institutional level.
Actively involved in national and local children's medical research
studies, the Children's Hospital staff brings the latest medical advances to
children in our area.
Our medical teams
also serve as a resource to health care providers across the United States.
