Celebrating 20 Years!
The 2004 Children's Miracle Network Celebration (CMN) was held Saturday, June 5th 2004 from noon-10pm. The celebration focused on the 20 years that donors have been supporting the Children's Miracle Network and MeritCare Children's Hospital. Local segments were broadcast live from the Little Country Theater, Askanase Hall, North Dakota State University and MeritCare Children's Hospital, Fargo.
Viewers who tuned into the CMN broadcast had the opportunity to provide their support and make a difference for local children and families. All proceeds raised benefit MeritCare Children's Hospital. Funds are used for medical research, medical equipment, child and family support programs, education and more. Families and children shared their stories of how important it was to them to have the Children's Hospital here to care for them. Physicians and hospital staff were interviewed about the accomplishments that are made possible with donations.
When asked about the importance of CMN support, MeritCare Children's Hospital nurse Karen Norman said: "To me, the most important thing donors should know about the money raised for CMN is that it stays right here with us to continue improving our total care to our patients and families. It helps us to be the best that we can be."
Emily Campbell, West Fargo and CMN Host Daron Selvig get acquainted before the interview. Emily had just finished chemotherapy the month before sharing her story at the Broadcast.
Scott Green of Community First Bank (now Bank of the West) and Larry Ristvedt, CMN Host and KFGO Radio Host. Organizations and businesses were welcomed to the broadcast to present donations. Many of these groups had events during the past year to raise funds for CMN.
Dr. Rod Rios and Host Sandy Buttweiler prepare for the live interview during the June 5th broadcast. The broadcast is an opportunity for the medical staff to personally thank donors for their support.
Education Minnesota representative Candace Allen, presents their donation to Host Robin Heubner. Education Minnesota teachers are contacted each year and combine their gifts to MeritCare to make one large presentation.
