MeritCare Main Entrance
MeritCare is committed to providing customers with a combination of the 21st century's new innovations and high-tech equipment, balanced with the century-old tradition of medicine. We are committed to maintaining and enhancing our state-of-the-art medical center, complete with technology, high-quality medical research and experienced staff and physicians, right here, close at home.
Through surveys, our patients and families have told us they want easier and less confusing access to the medical center, more private rooms and rooms that are more aesthetically pleasing and more conducive to healing and family needs. The direction our renovation plan took was in direct response to this feedback.
Our top priority is the health and healing of our patients and their families, not just for their bodies, but for their minds and spirits as well. That gets to the heart of it all, and the pulse is stronger than ever.

The North Addition
The north addition to our downtown campus includes:
- Heart Center — The four level Heart Center combines outpatient services related to heart care
- Day Unit — For patients admitted to the hospital for surgery or for same-day procedures. Features private rooms to foster education and family involvement
- New Entrance — The north-facing entrance features a three-story, rotunda with windows to provide natural light
- Parking Deck — The two-tier public parking deck on the north end of our campus provides 440 new parking stalls. It provides convenient drop-off access to both the upper- and lower-level entrances
- Eighth Avenue — This east-west roadway connects Broadway to Fourth Street, providing safe and easy access to our new entrance
- Lobby — A large, comfortable lobby for families and guests
- Family Area — A new family area on the second floor features a fireplace and overlooks the lobby and rotunda
- Main Street — A new coffee shop, an expanded gift shop, and easy-to-find elevator bays provide comfortable spaces and easy access to the remainder of the facility
- Consumer Health and Business Center — Located on main street provides access to reliable health information. Computers, printers, a copier and fax machine are available.
