Spirit of Giving: Matt & JoAnn Butler
Just as Matt Butler guided Butler Machinery through a time of major growth and development, he has shared his knowledge, insight, and skills with MeritCare. In line with the mission of Butler Machinery, "To build long term relationships with [their] customers, founded on trust, generating mutual growth and success", Matt and JoAnn Butler have done the same for MeritCare. Their relationship with MeritCare began over a decade ago in their support of the construction of the Roger Maris Cancer Center, where their daughter, Debra Y. Johnson, works as a radiation therapist. Matt and JoAnn have entrusted their donations to MeritCare to continue to grow and serve the community and MeritCare has trusted in them to support our mission to improve the health and quality of life of the people we serve. Due in part of their donations, MeritCare continues to grow as the leading regional integrated healthcare provider.
Since the construction of Roger Maris Cancer Center, Matt and JoAnn have continued to support MeritCare in other areas as well. They have been enthusiastic supporters in remodeling the MeritCare Children's Hospital. Their generosity has made a real difference in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Not only do they give financially, but they give with their time. Matt sits on the Foundation Board of Directors as well as the Major Gifts Committee and both are regular attendees of the Festival of Wreaths Gala. Matt and JoAnn Butler understand the need to provide the best care possible. As we celebrate our centennial, MeritCare would like to extend gratitude to the Butler family in their continued support as we move forward to our next century of caring.
