Orthopaedic Surgery
Our orthopaedic surgeons lead the treatment team at MeritCare Sports Medicine. This diverse group includes experts specially trained in hand surgery, podiatric medicine and sports medicine, along with skilled general orthopaedic professionals.
Our surgeons are all extremely able, but only about 10 percent of all athletes seen by them will actually go on to require surgery. Typically, the surgeons follow a more conservative treatment approach, altering training regimens or putting athletes on special weight, speed or strength programs to rehabilitate their injuries. Surgery is usually considered a last resort, helping speed recovery times in most cases.
