Our Heartfelt Thanks

When you think of gold medals, maybe Usain Bolt comes to mind, the Jamaican sprinter who won three gold medals at the past summer games. Maybe you picture the eight gold medals draped across Michael Phelps' chest. If the Olympics seem a distant memory, then think MeritCare when you hear gold medal.

We received four awards this year from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service for our high rates of life saving organ donations. Here's when we took the stand:

  • MeritCare Transplant Program–award for 20% increase in donor transplants
  • MeritCare Transplant Program–award for decreasing the number of days from referral to registration list.
  • MeritCare Health System–medal of honor for achieving life saving organ donation rates of 75% or more over a 12 month period
  • MeritCare Health System–medal for being one of only a few hospitals to earn the medal of honor four years in a row

MeritCare wants to recognize the doctors, nurses and staff who make this honor possible. Your hard work is a tremendous asset in patient care. More so we want to thank those who truly see organ donation as the "gift of life." Their generosity makes our work possible.

To all of you who are involved with organ donation, hopefully these medals make you too feel like a champion.
